Joshua Fest 2006 - Sunday Concert Review

Sunday was a very relaxed day for me, after running around a whole day on Saturday and not very many bands that interested me on Sunday I decided to take it easy and just watch here and there, I saw a ton of bands on Sunday but only a few of them did I watch enough to actually review.

Air 1 Stage
5:00 PM: This was just my second time seeing Disciple perform, and they did a much better set this time than the time before I saw them. They have an awesome message and an amazing stage performance! They stay close to their main purpose which is worshipping Jesus. If you like Disciple’s style then you should go check them out live!

6:00 PM: Tooth and Nail rock act Project 86 came out and had a stellar show! I thought they had a great set playing lots of their good songs, this was only my second time seeing them, and the first time was at Creation. They’re really talented live and at JFest they sounded very good.

8:00 PM: BEC Records rock act Seventh Day Slumber came after speaker Brad Duncan, I missed a lot of the set due to me eating dinner and other activities I was doing, but I could hear them from where I was at and they sounded really good. From what I saw of them they really rocked the house, but never strayed from their main purpose.

10:00 PM: Closing the event this year was Thousand Foot Krutch. By this time in the festival people start breaking rules, during TFK I spotted many people crowd surfing, and extreme amount of moshing. What can they do at this point but stop the show? That’s the only downfall to Joshua Fest is they have rules but they never really enforced them, I guess all of the moshers reading this would like this at every festival. Other than that the show was great! TFK went through a lot of new and old songs, a perfect way to close the event!

Effect Radio Stage
1:15 PM: Independent band Ever Stays Red played the second afternoon slot on the Effect Radio Stage. I became a fan of Ever Stays Red after I saw them perform two years ago at Joshua Fest, the band had changed since, but still put on a great show! I highly recommend checking this band out!

6:45 PM: Replacement band Red put on a spectacular show! The Essential Records hard rock group performed a lot of their songs off their debut album End of Silence. The band replaced Aaron Sprinkle’s band Fair, I’m not sure why they cancelled but I was very excited to hear one of my favorite bands were coming after all.

9:15 PM: Flicker Records group Kids in the Way was the last to perform on the Effect Radio Stage, and they put on a spectacular show! Kids went through songs from both their debut and sophomore albums and they played both of their new songs from their re-release of Apparitions of Melody: The Dead Letters Edition. The band ended the show on a Spiritual high, ending on there own version of Amazing Grace. It was one of those moments that’ll probably not happen again, very hard to describe.

In the end, Joshua Fest scores big in my mind. None stop music starting at 9:30 in the morning and ending at 1 AM the next day! If I were to compare Joshua Fest to Creation Fest, it’s a no brainier, if you like a smaller crowd, less restrictions and more music, less talk, Joshua Fest is the way to go. I only have Creation fest to compare Joshua fest too. That being said my last thought is this, it’s worth the trip, whether it being 10 minutes or (in our case) 10 hours If you live around Northern California Joshua fest is a must see event! Even if you don’t live near the festival (like me) I encourage you to go! Overall Joshua Fest has a great atmosphere of music, fellowship and Jesus! Starting next year they’re putting together Joshua Fest Southern California.
