Almost a year and a half after their very popular, GMA nominated debut, All Gas. No Brake. Stellar Kart is back with their highly anticipated sophomore release, We Can’t Stand Sitting Down. Stellar Kart was nominated for New Artist of the Year and Rock Album of the Year for their debut, which had 3 radio singles topping the charts. The band also packed in over 200 dates touring with bands like Kutless, BarlowGirl, Falling Up and Pillar, playing anywhere from sell out crowds to church camps.
We Can’t Stand Sitting Down, really only lacks two things, one of which is common with most pop-punk bands, the originality of the music is fair, in other words, a few of the songs sound alike. Other than the album has great beats, the other throw off is the band sounds a lot like Hawk Nelson, so for HN fans this album is for you. Other than that this is a great album musically. They kept the album upbeat through out the entire CD with the occasional slow song here and there. No noticeable holes or gaps in the music.
Stellar Kart really improved their lyrics on We Can’t Stand… Two of songs on the album that really makes the album are “Me and Jesus.” This one is sure to get a lot of air time, and is “Hold On.” This one is probably my favorite from We Can’t Stand Sitting Down. Some other lyrically good songs include; “Angels in Chorus, Activate, Always Waiting, Wishing and Dreams, and I Wanna Live.” Stellar Karts lyrics this time ‘round focuses mainly on Jesus’ love, getting the word out about Jesus and daily life.
Overall, Stellar Kart's sophomore release, We Can’t Stand Sitting Down, is sure to be a big hit with youth group kids and fans of Relient K and Hawk Nelson, with stand out tracks like 'Me And Jesus' and 'Hold On.' One downfall from Can’t Stand is the lack of originality in the genre of music, but this is very common with most power-pop-punk bands. Lyrics are great, overall a great album from a great band.
