English-born worship leader Vicky Beeching is back with yet another astounding album, Painting the Invisible, a stellar follow-up to 2005’s debut Yesterday, Today and Forever. Painting the Invisible contains Vicky’s trademark combination of brilliant melodies and thought-provoking insight. And once again Vicky brings theology rich worship songs to the table.
Kicking off the album is appropriately “Join the Song,” which is about how the entire world one day joining the song to praise God, a wonderful way to start the album! “Praise God from whom all blessings flow / Praise Him all creatures here below / To Him all the glory belongs / Praise Him above you heavenly hosts / Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost / Let all the earth sing along / Come join in the song” - Chorus
“Hallelujah, What a Savior” is next. Vicky Beeching has a way of letting you think of the bigger picture, especially in this one. “Holy King of angel armies / Hanging between two thieves / Holy feet that walk the heavens / Nailed upon a tree / And we bow down, we bow down” – Verse 2. “Everyone Under the Sun” is a nice upbeat song that Vicky co-wrote with label-mate Matthew West. “Come if you’re addicted, in chains and afflicted / Welcome to freedom’s embrace / Come if you’re hiding your struggles inside / To the One who loves you anyway / Come and find the meaning of life is / To worship the God who can heal every heart / Wherever you’ve been, just come on in / No distance is too far” – Second Verse.
“Only Your Love” which is another brilliant worship song! Reminding us that God’s amazing love can change us when we’re heartbroken, trapped in sin and addiction, and it can take our fear and doubts. “Only Your love changes me / Only Your love sets me free / Only Your love can take my fear and doubt / And change me from the inside out / Only Your love” – Chorus.
Vicky brings out an edgy guitar intro into “Forever More.” Singing about how for all of eternity we’ll be with God. Sung from Vicky’s perspective “Forever More” could easily become a fan-favorite. “You have won my heart forever more / You are mine and I’m forever Yours / You are my desire, my treasure in this life / And You have won my heart forever more” – Chorus.
Last song I’m going to mention is a song Vicky wrote about herself. “Twenty-Six Summers” gives a very personal and devoted worship song to God. “Through twenty-six summers / And twenty-six winters / I’ve laughed in the spring time / I’ve cried in the rain / Though I’ve questioned the meaning / Of some of life’s seasons / It’s true that they’ve left me holding on tighter to You” – Chorus. You could call it a love song to God.
Painting the Invisible gives you not only great lyrics that are very positive and uplifting, but it gives you great music! Acoustically driven, Painting, gives you great electric guitar melodies, while sometimes soft and subtle, while other times very upbeat and edgy. Giving the entire album a great feel of worship!
If one thing is true, it’s this; Vicky Beeching hit the mark on Painting the Invisible. This is one of the premier worship albums I’ve heard in a long time! It is a must for any fan of worship! I highly, highly recommend Vicky Beeching’s sophomore release Painting the Invisible.
